The medieval Carmelite Church of Whitefriars lay to the west of the Burgh of Perth, fronting on to the Longcauseway, which was the main medieval access road from the west into Perth. The first phase of the church is thought to date to 1262, when Richard of Inverkeithing is said to have founded a friary. Today only the footings remain which have now been exposed during archaeological excavation by Derek Hall in 2016 prior to redevelopment of the site. Two masons' marks were recorded on the external north face of the NW corner of the church. | | |
